So Week 1 ends with Troy in a surprising lead over Chia Shrek! Maybe its the colder weather we've been having, but Troy has fairly substantial hair growth over Shrek's modest few sprouts.

For the most part I feel much better. I still get tired very easily and even a little bit of activity without taking a break for a nap wears me out fairly quickly. I did some weeding yesterday afternoon between the conference sessions and felt pretty tired afterward, as well as feeling the strain on my abdominal incision. The incisions on my head are healing well and there is little to no pain from the incisions themselves, but I continue to feel some pain from where they had to scrape down the bone on my skull where it started to grow over the top of the old valve system.
I thought that I would feel very self-conscious about going out into public with my head shaved and my scars visible. But I actually don't feel that much (at least going to work and to church), but I did start to feel it yesterday when I ran into Costco and started notice that people were looking at my head and then quickly turning away. It just made me feel more conspicuous.
Some people (out of morbid curiosity?) have been interested in seeing my incisions. You can see the scar photos here. (But DO NOT look if you have any sort of queasy stomach! You've been warned!)
