Obama Girl
As part of the Univ. of Utah Marching Band, Sara was again able to do some travelling. They were invited to march in Obama's Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. After some scurrying to get the money in place to fund the trip, they flew out on a charter plan and arrived in DC on Sunday morning. They spent the day on the National Mall seeing museums and monuments. Then on Monday, they went to Gettysburg. On Tuesday, they arrived early in the morning at the Pentagon to go through security checks and clearances, before finally marching in the parade in the late afternoon. It was a long day, but a memorable one. By the time they finally marched in the parade, it had become so late, cold and dark that most parade goers had left the parade route. But Obama and his wife were very gracious showing enthusiasm for them even after 3 hours of parade! Here's the short video feed of the parade with their group. I added a couple of overlays to show where Sara was marching, but she didn't have anywhere near the coverage she had at the Sugar Bowl!

Oh how I love me some celebrity .... especially the one I'm related to!
I clearly need to check your posts more often. (Seems after several months one begins to give up..hint hint) Anyway, how cool is this? Clearly they didn't know there was a famous traveling Sanders in the band or she would have had the coverage she so deserves! You must be so proud! I know Kristen is SOOOOO jealous and wishes...no longs for one of those silly hats from the Inauguration.
