Call me a braggart if you want....

...but a Sanders sport accomplishment is so rare that it needs to be noted when it occurs. Daniel had his Region 1 Swim Championship last Friday. There were 9 or 10 high schools there and they work all year long, swimming up to 16-20 hours/week to prepare for this big meet. Daniel swam the 50-yd freestyle, the 100-yd freestyle, the 200-yd relay and the 400-yd relay. He medalled in both of his individual events taking 4th in the 50-free and 6th in the 100-free. We will also find out Friday if he qualified to swim in the state swim championships in 2 weeks. Right now, he is ranked #17 in the state in the 50-free, and his 2 relays are ranked #4 and #12. They usually take the top 24 for the State Meet, so its likely he will swim in those 3 events....AT STATE! How cool is that? And just to prove that he really is ranked, you can look at the current standings for 5A schools here. (Search for his name and you'll find it under Male 50-Free and Male 100-free). He is exhausted and a little bit burned out, but he only has 2 weeks left, and then he will start lacrosse. He needs a break from swimming!

It is good that I do not go to his meets as I would embarrass him. Call me a braggart aunt if you want....

WOW! Way to go Daniel! This day should really be known from now on as a historical event. We're cheering you on from sunny AZ! Oh and by the way, unlike your Tia Juana, I am sure I would not embarrass you at all. Your Mom and Dad, well that's another story. :~)
