Despite the cold, wet weather we've been having (or maybe because of it), the corn has been doing great! It sprouted very quickly....even through the slits in the weed fabric. (For the record, the subset of slits that I held open with toothpicks did not do any better than the control subset of slits with the fabric just cut, forcing the sprouts fight their way through.) Save your toothpicks. I used all of ours....can we borrow some from anybody?
The rhubarb, however, did not fare so well in the 60 mph winds we had all day yesterday. I believe we may be making some rhubarb pie this afternoon with all of the stalks that broke off.
