It's been a hectic couple of months and I haven't had the time or inclination to post anything. But we have had excitement around here. A couple of highlights:
A night out at Chile's to celebrate Sara's 21st birthday. We picked her up from her apartment near the university and had a great evening together. She found a research position in a biochem lab (I couldn't even begin to tell you what she does....but it does not involve cutting up frog eyes) and is the favored chemistry tutor around campus.
Daniel finished up lacrosse season, and while they didn't win any games (several were VERY close and came down to sudden death) he did have a great time. Our favorite game was the one he was assigned to "annoy" a key player on the opposing team and did so by singing "If I were a Rich Man" to him, bumping into him, and following him everywhere he went. It was very comical. A couple of shots from the games:
I like the picture below because it shows the gusto with which he played the game.

The team photographer told us at the awards banquet that he captured the shot below of Daniel and he felt it really showed Daniel's character (He is in our stake and knows Daniel well). He said that the referee had just made a controversial call and all of the players were giving the ref a hard time trying to argue their point of view. Daniel picked up the flag to hand to the ref and the ref turned to Daniel as if to brush him off as another complaining player, but instead was taken aback by Daniel's sportsmanship in picking up the flag to give to him.

And finally, Daniel graduated from high school last week. He was selected as one of 6 valedictorians in his class of 520 students. He worked very hard (sometimes at my insistence). As one of the valedictorians, he was asked to submit a graduation speech, from which they would select the best two to be delivered. Daniel had no interest in making a speech, so he never turned one in, but he did get a cool medal:

Both sets of Grandparents participated....Grandma and Grandpa Bob attended in person, and Al & Gayle watched the video stream over the internet from their apartment in Boston.
Not be outdone by her older siblings, Anna "graduated" from Elementary School. I'm not sure she is too excited about it....I think she would rather repeat sixth grade. She laments the fact that when she turns 12, the chicken strips on the "Kid's Menu" at restaurants will no longer be available to her. But she is looking forward to Jr. High next year and playing in the Concert Orchestra.

She also played the role of Peppermint Patty in her school musical "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown". She did an excellent job!
And finally, Daniel and I tackled pruning the pear and apple trees in our back yard. They had gotten out of control and needed to be pruned back, but we overdid it a bit....we had NO blossoms this Spring. At least we'll have minimal fruit to pick up before mowing the lawn later this summer.
