Happy Mother's Day 2011

Becky is such an awesome Mom! Sadly, we continued the tradition and bought flowers yesterday for the yard, which by tradition double as her Mothers Day gift. But the kids were very generous in showing their love, giving her tickets to a Roger's show, a calendar, and a pirate activity book. (Pirates have long been a running joke and I'm not sure anyone really knows how it started, but it gets perpetuated....especially with Becky as the brunt of the jokes.)

So the kids thought it would be really funny to set their alarms early (at 4 am....because that would be the point when she would be in the deepest REM sleep) and come in and give her a temporary tattoo from the Pirates Activity Book. It required a wet washcloth and holding the tattoo in place. Needless to say, when they came in, and put the wet washcloth on her arm, she screamed. In a half asleep state, she thought it was a piece of meat. Sara thought it was so funny she lay awake for another hour after going back to bed just giggling to herself. Sadly, it didn't come off in the shower. Apparently, its a long-term temporary one. Here is Becky with her tough-girl look showing off the new tat:

Fortunately, they put it on up high enough that she could cover it up with a sleeve. And here is a closeup of the actual tat. We originally thought it was a "latin" skull and crossbones because it had a pineapple on its head with a pair of maracas. But after closer examination, we determined it was a "baby" skull and crossbones because it had a bow on its head and a pair of rattles. I guess the latter is more fitting for Mother's Day.

ARRRR! Ahoy Becky - my bestie sis-in-law pirate since 1987! (87? or was it 88?) Anywho, I think you look tough enough to take out those punk kids or yours - or at least give em' a peg leg or two for waking you up so DANG early! Happy Mother's Day!

Thanks, T.J.--Happy Mother's Day to you too!

P.S. I remember how the pirate thing got started, but I prefer not to explain.
