When we lived in Massachusetts, there was a local liberal paper called The Valley Advocate. Every week, there was a feature called "Corn Grows" that showed a weekly photo of the same Hadley corn field with the ears of corn in their current state of growth. At first, I thought it was a bit backward, but through the summer I always looked for the feature and found it kind of endearing to small town Massachusetts. So, in the interest of showing off our agricultural skills (or lack thereof) this will be at least a weekly post. (It will also hopefully pressure me into keeping the weeds down if its being broadcast to cyberspace.) This is my first attempt at growing corn, so we'll see how it goes.
Status:
Corn: Planted
Peas: 6"
Tomatoes: Planted
Beans: Planted
Onions: Planted
Rhubarb: Growing for 4 years now, but not nearly as big or fat leaves like the one I remember growing in my grandparents back yard!
Daniel: still sweeping (it literally took him hours to sweep up the driveway-partly because he was coming up with creative ways to get the dirt into the garbage can). ;)

You are such a good example of teaching your kids to learn to work. I wish we didn't have little varmints here that ate everything in sight - I might even try tomatoes. It is just not fair.
I look forward to your weekly liberal corn growing column/post.
Did you watch SURVIVOR? No comment from me until I hear from you.
Interesting. You see, this year also marks our first attempt at growing corn. Perhaps I will compete for cyberspace visits by posting my own weekly corn pics and maybe even having people vote on whose corn looks better, or yummier. I probably won't, but I will be thinking about how mad I am at your corn every time I see your posts (unless of course it grows poorly, then I will feel only pity for your corn).
You should post a better picture of your slave laborers. I mean all we get is room, board, food...
