It usually has a reddish filling, but we ran out of red food coloring. Not realizing that, I grabbed what looked like "red", but it was actually "yellow" (I didn't notice the yellow cap". When Sara questioned me on it, I decided that rather than having a really, really yellow pie, I would just add blue and make it a greenish color instead (sort of like Rhubarb, right?). It didn't look appetizing, but it was delicious. We'll see if we can't do anything better for Becky next year...she deserves it!

Mother's Day 2009
Poor Becky was a good sport about Mother's Day this year. It's been kind of a hectic month, and she got flowers for the front of the house, and the kids and I made her a special dinner. Sara made her homemade Chicken Cordon Bleu and I made my signature Rhubarb Custard Pie. We always love that rhubarb pie, but for some reason, this year it turned out like this:

It usually has a reddish filling, but we ran out of red food coloring. Not realizing that, I grabbed what looked like "red", but it was actually "yellow" (I didn't notice the yellow cap". When Sara questioned me on it, I decided that rather than having a really, really yellow pie, I would just add blue and make it a greenish color instead (sort of like Rhubarb, right?). It didn't look appetizing, but it was delicious. We'll see if we can't do anything better for Becky next year...she deserves it!
